Questions often come up regarding Hypermobility, injuries and the effects of screen time on our children's developing posture. With a growing 12 year old son myself, I share these concerns.
Pilates is a mind-body approach to exercise working to strengthen and balance the musculature of the growing body, combined with breathing techniques can alleviate pain and increase self-awareness thus reducing the potential for injury. There are so many benefits to children, improved posture, spinal alignment abdominal strength, stamina, self-esteem and sleep. Pilates can help reduce adolescent sporting injuries by working on movement control, flexibility and strength. These are the same reasons that many elite adult athletes, sports teams and dancers include Pilates in their normal training program.
This program is intended to provide a positive, accepting and non-competitive movement experience, improving strength, balance and flexibility. Discussions will be encouraged and classes will always finish with time for well-being, guided relaxation, meditation and self-care information to promote healthy habits for life.
